What it means for you
- Buyers: With about 100 more listings than a year ago and slightly shorter average market times, buyers have more to compare and more room to negotiate on homes that have been listed for a few weeks.
- Sellers: Pricing close to recent comparable sales matters more now. Homes still sold near list price on average, so well-prepared, well-priced homes continue to sell.
Mortgage rates: the Freddie Mac 30-year fixed average was 7.24% on October 29, 2026 (7.32% a week earlier and 6.17% a year earlier), according to Freddie Mac. Try the mortgage calculator with today’s rate.
